Be careful when the solar water heater is struck by thunder in rainy days

The solar water heater commonly used on the roof of residential buildings may have certain potential safety hazards in the installation process. Many installation workers without professional training did not connect the water heater with the lightning protection device arranged on the roof for effective equipotential connection (direct connection to the lightning rod should be avoided). Or the water heater is installed outside the protection range of the building lightning rod to make it directly exposed to lightning. In fact, the water heater has become a lightning arrester. Once it is struck by lightning, the strong lightning current will directly enter the user’s room through the pipeline, power line and signal line of the water heater. The lightning may be transmitted to the bathroom along these conductors, resulting in personal injury to the bather.
Experts suggest that when installing solar water heaters, we must do a good job in lightning protection and safety protection. At the same time, we should try to avoid using water heaters in case of thunder.
